The Diarrhoea Pack is a comprehensive treatment pack that effectively relieves symptoms and shortens the duration of travellers’ diarrhoea.
The pack consists of four products which work together to instantly relieve the symptoms of diarrhoea and rehydrate the body.
Comprehensive treatment package
Contains four medications: Ciproxin, Imodium, Buccastem and Dioralyte
What are the benefits of the Travellers' Diarrhoea Pack?
The products included in the diarrhoea pack will provide you with the tools you need to fight off the illness, as well as relieving the unpleasant symptoms almost instantly. The Dioralyte sachets rehydrate your body as they contain vital minerals and salts which you lose through diarrhoea.
The biggest benefit of the Travellers' Diarrhoea Pack is that it allows you the peace of mind of knowing that you are adequately prepared if you are struck by illness. Getting ill in a foreign country can be a very distressing experience, and so having the treatment on hand will reduce the stress and worry that this can cause.
How do the travellers' diarrhoea treatments differ?
There are four products in one Travellers' Diarrhoea Pack. The first, Ciproxin, is an antibiotic that reduces the duration of the illness. The active ingredient ciprofloxacin targets the individual bacterium to stop them repairing themselves. Imodium works within the intestine walls to allow the body to better absorb fluids and nutrients, reducing the discomfort of diarrhoea by solidifying the stools. It also prevents dehydration.
Buccastem is a medication that works to provide immediate relief from vomiting and nausea. Finally, Dioralyte sachets are important oral rehydration aids, containing sodium chloride, sodium citrate, potassium chloride and carbohydrates. They help your body to rehydrate after it loses vital minerals and salts through the diarrhoea.
How do I take each treatment?
Ciproxin is a high dose treatment. One tablet should be taken early in the morning, followed by another single tablet 12 hours later. One Dioralyte sachet should be taken after each loose bowel movement.
You should take two Imodium tablets at the onset of the illness. You should then take one tablet after each loose stool until the illness subsides. Buccastem should be placed in the area between your gums and your upper lip two times per day until you no longer feel nauseous.
What are the side effects?
Medications such as those contained in the Travellers' Diarrhoea Pack are generally considered to be very safe, though they do contain a small risk of side effects. Mild side effects that could be brought on by one of the medications in the pack include: dry mouth; drowsiness; agitation; insomnia; dizziness; irritation of the gums and mouth; fever; skin reaction; jaundice; constipation; abdominal cramps or swelling; indigestion; flatulence; nausea and vomiting; paralysis of the intestine; taste disturbances; hyperactivity or agitation; confusion; anxiety; sweating and visual disturbances.
If you experience a more serious side effect, or a mild reaction that worsens or does not fade, you should seek medical treatment.
