A new study in the United States has demonstrated that women who receive daily text messages in relation to their contraceptive are more likely to continue taking it after six months.
The results, published in the journal Contraception, showed that 64% of women who had received the text messages continued to take their chosen daily oral contraceptive at this stage, a 10% increase on the 54% who continued taking their contraceptive despite receiving no education text messages. The results also showed that the text messages had more of an effect on women who had previously been pregnant and also women who smoke. The intervention was also more successful among wom....
