A new study has found that babies born by mothers vaccinated against influenza have nearly 50 per cent less chance of being hospitalised with the virus.
Researchers at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in the US published a report in the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology in June of this year. The team analysed influenza data gathered between 2002 and 2009 before the outbreak of H1N1, plus information relating to 1,510 babies who had suspected influenza infection and were hospitalised as a result.
