Physical Causes of Premature Ejaculation

There are many anticipated causes of premature ejaculation, some physical, some psychological and others inherited. Premature ejaculation, however, is still very much a grey area for researchers, and they are still unsure what should be considered the norm or average when it comes to ejaculation and sex.

Medical professionals generally agree that the problem is serious if it occurs within 2 minutes after penetration. But trials and surveys have shown extremes in terms of stamina and lasting time, and it’s thus difficult to pin point the average length of lasting time before ejaculation accurately, as it differs from individual to individual.

The best way to define premature ejaculation is whether a man cannot control ejaculation and he and his partner and are not satisfied with sexual intercourse. There are several physical factors that can contribute to the onset of the conditions listed below.

Hypersensitivity and hypospacticity

Some researchers have said that certain men suffer from an over sensitive penis as well as an inability to control the muscles in the penile region. More research is being done to follow up this cause, and to find more information that can associate it to premature ejaculation.

Prostate problems

The prostate is responsible for contributing to the composition of sperm. Men who are suffering from prostate cancer, an enlarged or over active prostate may suffer from premature ejaculation problems.

Diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and alcohol abuse

Diseases that affect the blood flow in the body can have an effect on ejaculation. Diabetes, hypertension and alcohol abuse all play a role on changing the consistency of the blood in the body, which could in turn affect the process of ejaculation.

Medications

Certain medications, like antidepressants, can alter a man’s state of mind, or in other cases, prevent him physically from being able to control his ejaculation. On the other hand, some antidepressants can actually help men prolong sex.

Spinal injury

Spinal injury will cause neurological problems in the body. If your neurological system is not functioning properly, messages will not be transmitted around the body as they should, which will effect ejaculation.

Thyroid problems

The thyroid is responsible for producing specific hormones in the body. If the thyroid is over active or not functioning properly, then the hormones will be altered in the body. This is a physical cause of premature ejaculation.
