Prevents the symptoms of an asthma attack with daily use
Choice of three types: Autohaler, Aerosol and Easi-Breathe
Effective in conjunction with a regular reliever inhaler
Asthma sufferers can benefit from a preventer treatment as it reduces the symptoms before an attack, so you don't have to worry about breathing difficulties in your everyday life. Qvar (beclometasone) comes in three different types of inhaler to suit your needs and you can continue to use your normal reliever treatment as and when necessary.
How does it work?
Beclometasone is a corticosteroid which reduces inflammation and irritation to the air passages when used on a daily basis. This decreases the chance of an asthma attack during exercise or times of stress. The three Qvar inhalers available from euroClinix differ slightly, although all have the same function.
The Qvar Aerosol releases the medication when you press down on the canister whilst inhaling. The Qvar Easi-Breathe has an attached mouthpiece cap and releases the beclometasone automatically when you inhale. The Qvar Autohaler also releases the medication when you breathe in, but you must remember to lower the leaver in between doses.
Who can use it?
If you suffer from asthma attacks you should be able to safely use a form of Qvar inhaler to prevent the symptoms. However, it will not be prescribed to you if you are allergic to beclometasone, its active ingredient. If you have suffered from tuberculosis (TB), are taking any other medication or are pregnant or breastfeeding you should mention this in your consultation as the doctor will prescribe your medication accordingly.
What dosages are available?
All Qvar inhalers are available in two different strengths: 50mcg or 100mcg. Your doctor will usually prescribe an initial dosage of either one or two puffs twice a day. All three types of inhalers may feel and taste slightly different to your previous inhalers as they have an extra-fine aerosol which results in more medication reaching your lungs. As a result, our doctor may prescribe a lower dosage than you have used with previous inhalers.
How do you use the inhaler?
All Qvar inhalers come with instructions on how to use them and you might find the Autohaler and Easi-Breathe easier to administer as they do not require you to press the canister whilst inhaling. Your doctor will tell you how many puffs you will need to take but the medication may take a few days take effect. Do not exceed the amount prescribed without first consulting your doctor, use your reliever inhaler to help control any breathing difficulties instead.
Are there any side effects?
Like with all medications, some people can experience side effects whilst using the Qvar Aerosol, Autohaler or Easi-Breathe. If you have trouble breathing after using your inhaler or if you suffer from skin rashes or swelling, you may be allergic to beclometasone and should consult your doctor immediately. Other side effects can include abdominal pain, nausea, infections to the throat or mouth and trouble sleeping.
Can I buy Qvar online?
Yes. Qvar is available to buy safely and securely from euroClinix after completing an online consultation with a doctor. Your condition will then be assessed and you will be prescribed the appropriate medication and most effective dosage. The euroClinix service includes a free next-day delivery so you can begin your treatment immediately.
