Ultraproct FAQs

Why take Ultraproct?

Haemorrhoids are also known as piles and they can cause great discomfort. They are small lumps that can develop inside the anus or protrude and develop outside the anus. Ultraproct is available in either ointment or suppository form and it helps to alleviate any uncomfortable symptoms caused by piles, such as irritation, soreness, swelling and itching. Ultraproct ointment is an effective treatment for both internal and external haemorrhoids. Ultraproct suppositories also provide an additional method of treatment for internal piles.

What does Ultraproct contain?

Ultraproct ointment contains cinchocaine (dibucaine) hydrochloride (0.5%), fluocortolone caproate (0.095%) and flucortolone pivalate (0.092%). Ultraproct suppositories contain cinchocaine (dibucaine) hydrochloride 1mg, flucortolone caproate 630mg and fluocortolone pivalate 610mg.

How does it work?

Ultraproct ointment and suppositories contain the ingredients cinchocaine and flucortolone in various forms. Flucortolone works as an inflammatory agent to reduce any swelling, soreness and irritation caused by piles. Cinchocaine works as a local anaesthetic, essentially numbing the affected area and providing relief from pain and irritation.

Who cannot use Ultraproct?

Ultraproct is not suitable if you are allergic to any of its ingredients or have a known allergy to local anaesthetics. If you have untreated viral, bacterial, fungal or parasite infections, or suffer from skin that is easily damaged, then you should not use this medication. If you are pregnant, thinking about becoming pregnant or are breastfeeding, this medication may not be suitable and it is therefore recommended that you speak to a licensed doctor. Ultraproct is not suitable for children.

How do you take Ultraproct?

It is important when using this medication that you wash your hands before and after use. Likewise the affected area should also be washed and dried before treatment is applied. Ultraproct ointment for either external or internal use should be applied on the affected area twice daily for five to seven days (three to four times daily on the first day if necessary). After symptoms have cleared, treatment should be applied just once daily.

To treat the piles internally using the suppositories, insert one suppository daily after a bowel movement for five to seven days (in severe cases, two to three times daily), then one suppository every other day for one week.

What are the side effects?

With all medications there is a possibility of experiencing side effects, although not everybody using this medication will experience them. Common side effects of this medication include skin allergies, thinning of the skin and an effect on the functioning of the adrenal gland.
