Viagra and other Medications

Medications that should be taken with caution

These medications can be taken with Viagra, but they must be taken with care. If you are taking a medication that could result in a risky combination, one that will affect Viagra or may put you at risk, it’s important to monitor your health and report back through regular check-ups. The medications that, if controlled, can be taken are:

Alpha blockers: Alpha blockers are used to lower high blood pressure. If controlled, Viagra can be taken safely with alpha blockers like Alfuzosin and Indoramin. If you are taking alpha blockers, your doctor or pharmacist will start you on a low dose of Viagra to start with, and monitor your reaction before raising the dosage.

Medications that cannot be taken with this impotence treatment

There is a group of medications that if taken with Viagra, will result in serious complications. If you take any of the following medications, then you cannot take this medication as it will put you at great risk. It does not mean that your impotence can’t be treated; simply consult the doctor about a treatment that can work with your situation or condition.

Nitrates: Nitrates are used to ease the blood flow in the body and cannot be taken with this impotence treatment, as they will result in a severe drop in blood pressure, causing dizziness, fainting and sometimes even a heart attack. Examples of nitrates are glycerol trinitrate, isosorbide mono nitrate and nicorandil.

Amyl nitrate: More commonly referred to as poppers, amyl nitrate will also lower your blood pressure dangerously if used in conjunction with this impotence treatment.
