Warticon (Wartec) FAQs

What benefits can I expect when I buy Warticon?

This medication provides targeted actions against warts that are visible on the surface of the skin, to help them go away after just a couple of week's use. Unlike Aldara, applying this treatment is relatively straightforward and it doesn't have to be rinsed off after a certain amount of time.

How does Warticon (Wartec) work?

Warticon contains the active ingredient podophyllotoxin, which penetrates each individual wart cell and ‘poisons' the cell's nucleus. Wart cells need to multiply in order to keep the mounds on the skin alive, the medication's toxic effect on the nucleus prevents the wart cells from being able to multiply. They will then eventually die off naturally and are replaced with normal skin cells.

Who can take it?

Warticon can be used by most adults for the treatment of genital warts. It is only recommended for the treatment of external vaginal or penile warts. If you have particularly big warts or you have warts in the urinary tract that is making it difficult for you to urinate, you may require more specialist treatment.

Who cannot take it?

You should not buy Warticon, either the cream or solution, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If this is the case, a doctor may be able to recommend an alternative treatment for you. You should also seek an alternative treatment if you are allergic to the active ingredient, podophyllotoxin.

How do you use Warticon?

You should always apply the solution with clean dry hands and also ensure that the area you are applying the treatment to is clean and dry. The solution should be applied and massaged directly into the affected areas of the skin, twice a day for three consecutive days each week.

If you are using the cream, apply a thin layer over the affected area making sure that it is covered effectively. Avoid touching your eyes or face while you apply Warticon and always wash your hands thoroughly after use.

Are there any side effects I need to be aware of?

Warticon has a small risk of causing side effects, but any side effects that do occur are usually very mild and pass quite quickly. The most common side effects are soreness, inflammation and irritation around the application site. If these effects become bothersome, or if you experience anything more serious such as an allergic reaction, you should speak to your doctor straight away.
