Zestril, also known under the generic name lisinopril, is used to treat high blood pressure and is classed as an ACE inhibitor. ACE inhibitors work to prevent the action of angiotensin II, which is a compound that's instrumental in causing blood vessels to tighten and restrict blood from flowing freely.
In this way the treatment can lower your risk of developing heart problems or other cardiovascular issues, because it reduces pressure on the heart to pump blood around the body. It's also been proven to help improve a person's chances of survival after a heart attack.
Zestril lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, this means that it works to prevent the production of angiotensin II and performing its proper function, which is to cause blood vessels to constrict and inhibit the flow of blood, which is what causes increased pressure on the heart.
Angiotensin II is a hormone that is produced by ACE and Zestril 10mg prevents ACE from performing its normal function, thus preventing the production of angiotensin II.
